Yes, indeed Sydney has cockroaches. And they're huge. I could see one on the road at night about 3 metres in front of me....and I was in a car! Mrs Dhaliwal may joke about it, but I seriously despise them roaches. There's just something sinister about them.
After some brief research on Wikipedia, I can report that Australia has its own species of roach called Periplaneta australasiae. Unlike other animal species here, this one doesn't seem deadly.
Mr Dhaliwal's Tip: Stay away from drains and don't wear jandals outside at night (which are strangely called 'thongs' here in Australia).
